Subject: Hi Peter

Hi Peter,  Gerald Slevin here.  Had a great day at Prospect today.  It was sunny and not too windy, and if you like 40 degree weather like I do, you were a happy runner/birder.  I hadn't been out in a while, so I brought my small binos on a run and got pulled in long enough to see 30 species in a relatively short time.  Including 2  drake Red-Breasted Mergansers, 3 American Wigeons (2 drake, 1 hen), 1 Ring-Necked Duck, and a Red-Tailed Hawk perched ominously about 30 feet above the feeders (see photo attached).  Took the pics with my iPhone through the binos.  Tricky, but I'm getting the hang of it.  The hawk was perusing the busy buffet below, which included Downies, Both Nuthatch types, Titmice, Chickadees, Cardinals, and White-Throated Sparrows galore, although it was a squirrel that he mainly focused on.   Also saw a Cooper's near Vanderbilt playground, but it flew off before I could get a pic.
