12/15 Kings Xmas count results
The preliminary brief note: 134 species on the Kings county CBC. second highest- the record is 135-an unusual Xmas count despite areas that were impacted by Sandy and habitats lost. Very surprising count.Among best species was an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN.
Prospect had 63 species... more details later
Top Prospect specis: RED CROSSBILL,WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL,PINE SISKIN, NASHVILLE WARBLER ( Brooklyn botanic Garden in the Rose Garden), two NORTHERN SAWWHET OWLS ( inside private property Quaker Cemetery, by permission only). Record number of YELLOW BELLIED SAPSUCKER, 16. ( likely all those new snags)
