Pursuing the skulker

Getting lucky with a skulker species like a Connecticut Warbler depends on your timing and fortune. That's the deal with the afternoon version of my attempt for this bird .

After I checked out of work at 4 pm, I took my time getting to the spot where it was seen, opposite the open view of Upper Pool ,on the slope towards the fire area ;and already there was Seth Barr and Michael S. As soon as they saw me Seth gestures to me and I hurried to the spot. As Seth pointed where on that slope ,I looked at a small gap between the ground foliage, and it appeared the Connecticut was at the edge of that gap; what does it do? It scampered across in true skulking fashion. We waited and then Michael says  a few  minutes later" there it is ,it's on top of the log".Quickly I put my bins up and all I got was the gray green back of the bird, a wonderful and excellent backside view at that...

It disappeared after that quick look .
Being an impatient birder especially with skulking birds, I nevertheless stuck out with my friends for a half hour more to no avail.

Its truly a gift if you get a few seconds good looks at a Connecticut Warbler.

"The crickets felt it was their duty to warn everybody that summertime cannot last for ever. Even on the most beautiful days in the whole year - the days when summer is changing into autumn - the crickets spread the rumour of sadness and change."
