100 years ago today, a sad end

Martha,the last Passenger Pigeon of her species died in a Cincinnati zoo.

From a species peaked at 5 billion birds in the mid 19th century to absolute unchecked slaughter,it was the greatest and senseless human caused extinction of any species on earth.

Hence the question.What have we learned ?  Support conservation,support bird and wildlife conservancies for one.
