On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Prospect Park Alliance, I am delighted to announce the appointment of the new Alliance President and Park Administrator, Sue Donoghue. Sue is a longtime Brooklyn resident who is passionate about Prospect Park, and truly understands why it's a vital resource for millions of Brooklynites. You may have seen news of this appointment in today's New York Times.
 
Sue has a sterling record of vision and leadership in the world of New York City parks. She previously served as an Assistant Parks Commissioner, where she was responsible for implementing plans for enhancing the sustainability of New York City, most notably through PlaNYC. She oversaw the construction of groundbreaking new parks across the five boroughs, the conversion of hundreds of schoolyards into new playgrounds, and, through the MillionTreesNYC program, the planting of more than 900,000 trees.
 
In addition to this work, Sue spearheaded strategic and philanthropic partnerships at NYC Parks & Recreation--with the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City on philanthropic giving, the New York Restoration Project on the MillionTreesNYC program, and the Trust for Public Land on the Schoolyards-to-Playgrounds initiative, to name a few. 
 
We cannot think of anyone better suited for this position. Sue will lead the Alliance in its important role in overseeing the ongoing care and long-term stewardship of the Park in partnership with the City, from restoration and landscape management, to maintenance and operations, and volunteer, recreation and education programs for the Park, which receives more than 10 million visits each year.
 
Sue will begin on October 6, and looks forward to getting to know the numerous members, volunteers, community partners and other supporters who enable the Prospect Park Alliance to thrive. Please join us in welcoming her to Prospect Park.
