Afternoon Prospect April 17th WEWA and more early warblers

Southern warm flow obviously kicked in a few birds this afternoon because not only was there a good activity of the main trio of PINE, PALM and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS in the Lullwater area, but the season 's first WORM-EATING WARBLER.

Dennis Hrehowsik tweeted in the WORM-EATING WARBLER report in the Lullwater mid center on the west side 1/2 way past the Lullwater Cove towards the Terrace Bridge. This warbler prefers slopes for its liking.John Ascher and Will ? also observed this uncommon spring bird.

Other quality birds were BROWN THRASHER in the Peninsula ( Dennis), and my RUSTY BLACKBIRD seen working the shores of the Ambergill Creek after the Lower Pool water exits, just before the Esdale Bridge. This bird was reported earlier by Chris Elliot.

I spotted 5 Woodpecker species today Flicker, Red bellied, Downy, Hairy and Yellow-bellied Saspucker. Add WINTER WREN and BLUE GRAY GNATCATCHER on the trail west of the Lullwater Bridge.

Green Heron in the Lullwater past the Terrace bridge  ( Rob Bate)

I forgot to mention previously that there is a good rush of HERMIT THRUSHES (HETH), one area i saw a good number of HETH , at least a dozen in the woods of south Quaker Ridge by the bridle trail

From Sean Zimmer:

Hi Peter,

After seeing the report of Rusty BB on your blog earlier, I made a brief visit to the Ambergill Pool area this evening after work.  I saw a pair of Rusty Blackbirds very actively foraging in the leaf-litter along the stream that feeds into the Pool.
Really good looks at the pair, unfortunately I had no camera on me.
All the best,

-Sean
