Monday briefs

Sporadic sightings of the few warbler species continues starting off the week with promise.

The warm spell means a southern front moving thru may mean good numbers of birds heading our way. But for now we have to contend ourselves with the few warblers around in Prospect. On my lunch hour, I got a great look at PALM WARBLER between the Upper and Lower Pools in the back area along the path. There were reported earlier several Palms. At the Rock Arch Ravine bridge, Rafael pointed out to me high up YELLOW RUMPED and PINE WARBLERS. There was a continuing WINTER WREN by this aforementioned bridge.

Regarding ducks, the three RING NECKED DUCKS stayed put in Upper Pool. Two hen HOODED MERGANSERS joined them but only briefly according to Charles Tang, the birds flying off.

Also found was a Rusty Blackbird in the cashmere Vale pool ( Tang); Ruby crowned kinglet ; Savannah and Chipping sparrows on the Nethermead. ( Campos)
