Rarities reported today continue to be Painted Bunting and Black headed Gull with the latter bringing " friends".
First on the Painted Bunting staying true to the grasses back of Pier 5. It did ventured towards the restroom or visitors center neat Pier 4. Accompanying it are
Field and Song Sparrows and Yellow rump in a mixed flock.
It's a bonanza with the gulls though at Pier One Pilings in late afternoon. First the Blackheaded gull came in with a Bonarpartes Gull. Then about 20 minutes later about 445, the Iceland Gull shows up. This piling section is gull heaven with Manhattans backdrop adding some iconic flavor.
