Friday rarity spurt

For Sale Digital Art - Red-shouldered Hawk by Louis Agassiz Fuertes

A split foursome of rarities occurred today in Prospect Park and Bush Terminal Park finishing the week with a flourish.

First in Prospect, the VARIED THRUSH still maintains its presence. Found by Sean Sime at the the closed off stairs path at Nethermead Arches northwest corner, it provides incentive for birders to continue looking for this bird. The second rarity , though not with the megastar status the thrush has, a RED SHOULDERED HAWK was also reported by Sean in Prospect.

Meanwhile at Bush Terminal Park, the rarities are of sea faring nature ,of course, for this coastal park. A hen EURASIAN WIGEON was found by Joshua Malbin. While there , the recurring ICELAND GULL is present.

These sightings add motivation for birding this weekend, if you don't mind tomorrows predicted rain .
