What the heck is this Varied Thrush eating? Seen yesterday , a photo taken by Charles, I'm curious about the Prospect's VATH diet , how its surviving the winter. Based on the photo the best I can make out is an insect gall of some kind....
I looked up the birds profile and a summary says :
" Like other species of thrushes, Varied Thrushes eat a combination of insects and berries, shifting seasonally. In winter, they feed on berries, seeds, and acorns, in trees or shrubs or on the ground. In summer, they prey on insects and other invertebrates."
If you can see clearly what you think it is, send me word....
