Sandy ( or "Frankenstorm") moves in

Pretty soon, the outer storm bands with its strong winds and heavy rain will hit the NYC area perhaps as soon as Sunday eve.   The NYC Parks Dept has declared parks closed as of Sunday 5 pm we should heed the warning as trees , snapped limbs will come down. [  I don't even know if I have to go to work Monday but I dread the upcoming week , what tree falls and damages lie ahead for me and my crews to clean up....DON'T WANT TO KNOW  :(   ]

Anyway, here is the Alliance severe weather alert from their website

Some birders may want to look for tropical birds along the river from brooklyn or nyc piers.. But if mass transit shuts down, tough to get back....and floods, fallen power lines, etc

Anyway , be safe and stay indoors , and away from parks even the few days after as sometimes weakened trees can fall , even a week later from soggy roots and heavy trees....( i know, we get tempeted as to what might  have blown in on Prospect Lake....)

I say , it's a crazy looking storm, like it's hitting pinball posts: a real hard left , then hard right.....weathermen say they never seen this before...only happen a few times the last 200 years...
