Prospect April 21st, Chills birding

Based on reports read, birds leaned more towards diversity and quality as numbers dipped. While over in Greenwood Cemetery, I could tell by the scarcity of birds impacted by this cold chill feeling like late fall.Prospect is the better region of the two locales with its better ground habitat and that is what proved its strength. Within that low ground strata,a WORM-EATING WARBLER shares today's hi light along with a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO reported by Dale Dyer .

Kathy Toomey first reported the WORM-EATING WARBLER at the Lullwater Cove  on the hillside behind the platform.Later Chris Holden said it was seen closer to the Lullwater.I presume yesterday's report from Monica is the same bird at this spot. Hopefully, I can see it at lunchtime tomorrow.

The YELLOW THROATED VIREO is uncommon to rare bird here, seen over the Wellhouse that Peter Colen texted me this morn, reported by noted bird illustrator Dale.

Another Vireo species, WHITE-EYED hung right where the Yellow-throated was, at the Wellhouse ( Sandy Paci).

Other hilights took place in the air, with Kestrel putting on a show;a flyover 2 COMMON RAVENs (R.Jett) keep up their appearances ( wondering where they are keeping residence here in Kings ?) with a flyover at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden 10:39.

BLUE-WINGED TEALs are putting in more appearances often this spring I have seen than in other years. So far , so good.

Look for sparrows including todays FIELD and CHIPPINGs

From Chris Holden :

Hi Peter,
Spent a good while in the park today.  There wasn't a relentless amount of bird activity, but overall a good amount of diversity.  Highlights for me were a singing Northern Waterthrush in the Vale, a very cooperative Worm-Eating Warbler in the Lullwater (previous reports greatly appreciated), and a Kestrel that was comically and unproductively diving amongst the Chimney Swifts over Lookout.  It was also nice to see good numbers of Towhees and Palm Warblers pleasingly dispersed throughout the park.
