Prospect March 26th Pine Warblers and winter species

Reports received this morning of PINE WARBLERS in a few locations:

--Boulder Bridge (T.Stephenson )

--Lullwater near the Boathouse ( also YELLOW RUMPED WARBLER) ( RBate)

--Maryland Monument , towards the Nethermead ( Chris Holden)

--North Pines below the Terrace Bridge ( Rob Jett, et al)

ON Lookout Hill Butterfly Meadow, WHITE WINGED CROSSBILLS.

Tom Stephenson led the NYC Audubon group and reported several good species for this date, among them some winter species as it been all winter, the Xbills ( see above) , Pine Siskins with incoming spring migrant RUSTY BLACKBIRD.

A single COMMON REDPOLL was seen in the water edge in the Vale of Cashmere pool; later it was spotted perched by the bench near  the water fountain at the south end.

Today I led a group of birders for NYC Audubon. We had some good birds on a nice but brisk day.
Almost 50 species; not bad for this time of year. Highlights include 3 species of Merganser, White-winged Crossbill, Pine Siskin, Rusty Blackbird, Pine Warbler, Peregrine, Monk Parakeet, and American Tree sparrow.
