The Migration of Steppe Eagles and other Raptors in Nepal

Presenter: Robert DeCandido, PhD

Dr. Robert DeCandido was born and raised in the Bronx where he still lives (but spent one year, 1985, working in Prospect Park!). He has done research on NYC flora and fauna including Eastern Screech-Owls and other raptors (American Kestrels, Peregrine Falcons) of the five boroughs. Since 1999, along with photographer Deborah Allen, he has done raptor migration research in the Far East including Malaysia, Thailand and Nepal. Tonight's presentation will show one of the finest places in the world to watch migrating raptors - because these birds come so close to the ridge in the foothills of the Himalayas - including vulture species (some globally endangered), and at least 5 eagle species, including Steppe Eagles. Publications (both scientific and popular) on all these topics are available upon request.
