Black-headed Gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) (1)
- Reported Dec 12, 2017 09:40 by Linda Ewing
- Prospect Park, Kings, New York
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&q=40.6602841,-73.9689534&ll=40.6602841,-73.9689534
- Checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S41048266
- Comments: "Seen at close range off western shore of lake, by rustic shelter. Cleaner and more delicate in appearance than surrounding RBGU. Pointy red bill with black tip, black smudge on side of white face, black wing tips. Red legs observed when it flapped and reared in water (and again when it took off in flight). Was able to follow it as it circled NW corner of lake, but it eventually disappeared behind trees toward Lookout. Stuck around hoping it would circle back, but if it did, I was unable to refind."
