- Comments: "Butterfly meadow, north edge (on the hill side). Mostly seen in glimpses through foliage (at eye level or slightly above). Attention first caught by bright yellow cap; subsequently saw black throat and mask. Bird finally granted me a brief but stunning full frontal view - all white below aside from distinctive throat/mask and trace of dark edge on tail. Never actually saw its eponymous golden wing patch, but feel confident in ID based on other field marks. "
