Prospect Park, Kings County, NY, US - eBird Hotspot

https://ebird.org/hotspot/L109516

A bit of a surprise today with a stiff north wind that didn't deter the birds.

Spring time migration is about south wind that provides the tailwind boost for birds. Yet today even with Birdcast not saying vibes up for movement, birds came thru.

When I asked a passing birding acquaintance as i stopped my work on lookout hill summit assignment I was greatly surprised to hear the guy saud he had 15 species  Warblers. Wow! I didn't think it was going to be good today.

Some hilights included these birds: a flouting Canada Warbler all day in the Ravine along the creek; Cape May Warbler at the Rose Garden,in a pine; Bluewinged and Chestnut-sided on Lullwater and Peninsula respectively; lingering Louisiana Waterthrush in the Ambergill.

The showy Cliff swallow which I finally got to see stayed on Prospect Lake. That light rump tells it all.

I saw a Gray cheeked Thrush at Butterfly Meadow compost pile. There were several thrushes about.

Throw in woodcock,Merlin, white crowned sparrow and hooded warbler in the hat as well from birders afield.

110 Species birds in Prospect today.. unbelievable. It's either stragglers or headstarts as warm weather is coming midweek. Or maybe Prospect just entraps them with good stuff?
