New York Naturalist - The April Nature Walk at BBG focused on bird identification, and we had 30 species - a very good number for a one hour walk this time of year. (Next walk, May 13) Here's a golden crowned kinglet in a brightly colored pitch pine that set off the little guy's crown nicely. 30 species: Mallard Common/Red-breasted Merganser Red-tailed Hawk Ring-billed Gull Rock Pigeon (Feral Pigeon) Mourning Dove Belted Kingfisher Red-bellied Woodpecker Yellow-bellied Sapsucker Downy Woodpecker Northern Flicker Eastern Phoebe Blue Jay White-breasted Nuthatch Golden-crowned Kinglet American Robin Brown Thrasher Northern Mockingbird European Starling Palm Warbler (Yellow) Fox Sparrow (Red) Dark-eyed Junco White-throated Sparrow Song Sparrow Eastern Towhee Northern Cardinal Red-winged Blackbird Common Grackle House Finch American Goldfinch House Sparrow | Facebook
