water bird quality

Prospect Lake continues its best species with the three COMMON MERGANSERS in the only open water at the west shore. It adds the motivation to see these birds with so little going on nowadays in this frigid period.

Meanwhile another good waterbird elsewhere:To the northwest ,Bush Terminal Pier Park continues its entrancing reputation as a winter spot with RED NECKED GREBE. Mike Yuan reported this species seeing the bird in the southern cove.

The other winter attraction is the feeders. As soon as I refilled the feeders ,hoardes of birds came in . Along with the usual birds totaling 17 species, its always a delight to see CAROLINA WREN picking at the suet and the occasional visit by RED BREASTED NUTHATCH. A good finish to the GBBC's last day.
