Hi Peter,

Here are two photos from today of the Canvasback on the lake.

Erik& Terry

Timberdoodle fallout at Greenwood, a canvasback comes in at prospect.

Greenwood cemetery experienced a fallout of woodcocks today with a reported 24 tallied by Ryan M. Another birder told me that they were scattered in numerous places throughout the cemetery. This is a great time to go this week to look for these tomberdoodles.

Meanwhile while meeting with a new birder to discuss birders fascination with Prospect and its lake, I received word from Eric passing by that a drake Canvasback was reported in the lake just east of Three Sisters Islands. And sure enough ,sleeping with a small flock of Ruddy ducks, there's a Canvasback. An awesome find for this rare park species-- the first since February of 2017 -- this Canvasback eventually woke from its slumber and started diving at 440 pm. Next to it at one point a hen Hooded Merganser glides by.

Speaking of mergansers, three or two Common Mergansers kept to the middle of the lake, one a drake. A Ring-necked Duck was spotted as well, last seen by Three Sisters islands.

A great Sunday all around !
