Golden-winged Warbler (Vermivora chrysoptera) (1)

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S390096441
- Comments: "Flagged: rare, low-density migrant, and rarely chaseable in Brooklyn—my first this year. In this case I got the notification about Zohara’s find while up in the Butterfly Meadow and decided to quickly run (literally—was supposed to be mostly running this morning) over to her pin, where she and Daisy and Tripper were able to put me on it fairly quickly. Mostly seen from below while it was very high above, from which vantage the view was mainly the black throat and otherwise plain underside—I saw no hint of yellow on the underside either in real life or in anyone’s photos, so this seems to me good for a “pure” Golden-winged—though I was able to eventually get a little more of a view of the namesake yellow upper wings, as it clung to some dead leaves searching them for bugs. A challenging bird but always good to see them hanging on."
