Hi Peter,
We had another great walk today, with about 35 people seeing a total of 64 species. A 65th species—a Hooded Warbler—was found at the Sparrow Bowl by the last of the group after I had to break off at 12:30. So I think that counts.
There was a great diversity of migrants—still many warblers around, 13 species in all, as well as some later migrants like Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Golden-crowned Kinglet. There were also two Green-winged Teals and a Gadwall on the lake. But undoubtedly the highlight was the group of nine or 10 Common Nighthawks that passed through the low clouds over the Long Meadow, east to west, a little before noon. We then found a Philadelphia Vireo in the woods just south of the Tennis House, a spot that has been reliably active this season.
