Red-headed Woodpecker (Melanerpes erythrocephalus) (1)
- Reported Oct 23, 2019 10:15 by Linda Ewing
- Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings, New York
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&q=40.6523083,-73.9904281&ll=40.6523083,-73.9904281
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S60869388
- Comments: "Got my attention with raucous, rattly call unlike any more common woodpeckers (unless one was having a really bad day). Medium-sized woodpecker, head a solid gray-brown, back solid dark gray, large white patches on wings gave impression that lower back was white when folded. Underparts white. Initially observed in large ginkgo along Warrior Path. Flew to another tree in the same area, then a woodpecker that I think was probably this bird flew south & I lost it."
