On my morning walk today, I was strolling down North 11th Street when a Woodcock came flying out of a doorway it was apparently hiding in.  I ran down the street after it, it flew south down Kent Ave but I wasn't quick enough to see where it went.  I very nice surprise.

Dear Members,

In the midst of the COVID-19 public health crisis, I hope that you and your family are well and staying healthy. These are challenging and uncertain times. What I do know is that spring migration season is here and the birds are coming. If allowed by local authorities, you will be outdoors looking for them.

The Brooklyn Bird Club has cancelled all events from now until April 10th. We will reassess the situation in the coming weeks and make a determination regarding our programming going forward. Stay tuned, I will be in touch.  

The rules for birding have changed this year. Social distancing is not anti-social behavior. It is a requirement. Please be especially conscious of your proximity to others while birding. It is important that we don't touch or stand too close to one another. Maintain a 6-foot distance. Don't ask to share others' binoculars or scopes and do decline to share if someone should ask. Wash your hands frequently and use disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer. Visit the NYC Department of Health's webpage for the latest information about these and other precautions.

We are a family, please look out for each other. We are a community organization if you need assistance we will help you find it. If you need to talk, if you feel isolated, call me 718-768-0398. I am here to listen.

feeders refill ending

AS im am working remotely at home till March's end, the Prospect feeders will not be refilled due to the Corvid Pandemic. I had intended to end anyway by spring equinox. I don't know when I will be back in the park with my job plus as well Governor Cuomo will be issuing a Stay at home order as the Windsor Patch reported

stay safe everyone ! and stay indoors if possible unless its absolutely essential ( then do social distancing 6 feet apart,dont touch face, hand sanitizer i have a clip on)
  this is very serious stuff....
