Incoming warblers

Eni Falci came along awhile I was working at the Lily Pool section. She reported a few warblers this afternoon.

First a BLUEWINGED WARBLER was sighted at the west end of Boulder Bridge by some Hornbeams. Then a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH in the bridle Path rain puddle at Ricks Place.
And at Binnen Run just south of the Nethermead Bridge, feeding at Cardinal Flowers , a YELLOW WARBLER appeared.

Gus Keri reported five hours ago a LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH at Binnen Bridge.

So, a little action in fits and starts.

Hummingbird BBG

At this Cardinal flower stand along the Brooklyn Botanic garden watercourse North end I've been watching a Ruby throated hummingbird bird make quick visits.   Thx to my sister spotting it.

This morning, a northern waterthrush at the koi ponds, a yellow warbler and three spotted sandpipers at the Sylvan Water, and at least one yellow warbler at the Valley Water.  Other birds included house finches, cedar waxwings, chipping sparrows, at least 3 eastern kingbirds, a flicker or two, a flock of brown-headed cowbirds, and the usual starlings, robins, mourning doves, cardinals, monk paraakeets, canada geese, and mockingbirds.  Also, a couple of cooperative dragonflies (pictures).

In Green-Wood this morning, yellow warbler and juvenile yellow-rumped warbler at the Valley Water, and at least one yellow warbler at the Sylvan Water (picture).  Other bird species included eastern kingbird and green heron (pictures), chimney swift, chipping sparrow (many), a pair of flickers, and common raven.

Juvenile spotted sandpiper (I think; see picture) at Sylvan Water this morning.  Only other possible migrant I saw was a red-winged blackbird on Battle Hill  Other avian species: northern flicker, house finch, chipping sparrow, green heron, great egret, house wren, warbling vireo, northern cardinal, and a fledgling northern mockingbird begging for food.

FORSTERS TERN feeding off the Peninsula Thumb which also the latter was the landing spot for a SPOTTED SANDPIPER.
