In partnership with NYC Audubon and the American Littoral Society
Join Gateway NRA, NYC Audubon, and the American Littoral Society for the 1st annual Jamaica Bay Horseshoe Crab Festival on Saturday, May 27 at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.

Did you know that Horseshoe crabs have 10 eyes? Or that they play a vital role in coastal ecology? Or that if you are an adult under 40 and have been vaccinated, you have a Horseshoe crab to thank?  Check out the schedule below and join us to learn more about these fascinating, ancient critters.

8:30AM - Visitor Center Opens
9AM - Carpool to Big Egg Marsh for Walk
9:15AM - Horseshoe Crab Walk, led by Don Riepe (ALS), Mickey Maxwell Cohen (ALS), Steve Finn (USFWS), and Park Rangers (NPS)
11AM - Junior Rangers in a Changing Climate
1PM - Presentation by Deborah Cramer, author of The Narrow Edge
2:30PM - Ranger-led walk of West Pond (2.2 miles)
3PM - Book Club Discussion of The Narrow Edge
11AM - 3PM - Gyotaku Fish Printing Station
